WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Mark Messmer (R-IN) introduced the Ground and Orbital Launched Defeat of Emergent Nuclear Destruction and Other Missile Engagement (GOLDEN DOME) Act. In order to adequately protect the United States from nuclear weapons launched by our adversaries, the Golden Dome Act would create a layered missile defense system that will effectively keep Americans safe from these foreign threats. It is modeled after the successful Iron Dome missile defense system in Israel, one of the world’s most precise. Rep. Messmer’s legislation codifies the plan President Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth unveiled at the White House in May 2025. Senators Dan Sullivan (R-AK) and Kevin Cramer (R-ND) introduced the Senate version of the legislation. “In a world where hostile adversaries like Russia and China present an ever-present nuclear threat, America must stand ready to prevent nuclear weapons from harming our citizens,” said Rep. Messmer. “The Golden Dome Act fulfills President Trump’s initiative to keep America safe with this state of the art missile defense shield.” To find the full text of the Golden Dome Act, click here.
