Messmer Announces Historic Wins for Indiana’s 8th District in the One Big Beautiful Bill

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Rep. Mark Messmer (R-IN) celebrated the passage of H.R. 1, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. This historic legislation contains numerous provisions that provide great benefits for Indiana’s 8th Congressional District.

The One Big Beautiful Bill is a legislative feat, and I am very impressed with the artful way President Trump successfully shepherded this bill through the House of Representatives and the United States Senate,said Rep. Messmer.This bill will stimulate the Hoosier economy, providing our IN-08 community with new tax savings, fresh job opportunities, and better financial security. I am proud to play a part in delivering the Trump agenda and am pleased to participate in the long overdue process of finally eliminating colossal amounts of waste, fraud, and abuse in our federal programs.

The One Big Beautiful Bill delivers many important advancements to improve the lives of Hoosiers and all Americans.

The bill:

  • Permanently extends and doubles the Child Tax Credit, providing relief to 80,020 families in IN-08
  • Permanently extends and doubles the Standard Deduction, providing relief to 93% of IN-08 taxpayers
  • Permanently extends the 199A Small Business Deduction for 42,320 IN-08 mall businesses, saving them from a painful 43.4% tax hike
  • Saves 13,000 Hoosier manufacturing jobs, totaling over $1.1 billion in wages and $2.3 billion in economic growth
  • Extends the Death Tax exemption for 9,302 IN-08 farmers
  • Invests in critical programs to help Hoosier farmers prevent and fend off animal and crop disease
  • Allocates up to $1 billion in funding towards vital programs at Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane to ensure our warfighters are well prepared
  • Delegates funding for hypersonic missiles, Golden Dome technology, microelectronics, and other strategic capabilities that will be developed, tested, and deployed at NSWC Crane
  • Unleashes school choice for Hoosier families by establishing the first federal tax credit for donations to fund educational scholarships
