WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Rep. Mark Messmer (R-IN) announced his sponsorship of the Abraham Accords Defense Against Terror Act. Introduced by Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY), this critical legislation builds upon the historic Abraham Accords that President Trump and Israel continue to negotiate with countries in the Middle East. The bill offers vital military support to countries who are committed to normalizing relations with Israel and curtailing Iranian influence in the region. “President Trump is the most pro-Israel president in modern American history, and his record as a dealmaker is proving effective in the ongoing negotiation of the Abraham Accords,” said Rep. Messmer. “I am proud to sponsor this House legislation and support the military alliances forged by President Trump between America, Israel, and our Middle Eastern partners as we unite to end the reign of terror which has long tormented the region.” The Abraham Accords Defense Against Terror Act supports and complements President Trump’s security assistance policy towards the Middle East and North Africa by enhancing protection for countries that normalize relations with Israel, while also engaging in efforts to end the terror reign of Iran and Iranian-funded proxies in the region.
