Messmer Applauds USDA Funding Grant for Volunteer Fire Departments

Washington, D.C., August 7, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Rep. Mark Messmer (R-IN) issued the following statement in response to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) releasing Volunteer Fire Assistance (VFA) grants for disbursement:

“Volunteer firefighters put their lives on the line every day to protect our communities, and Hoosiers are grateful for their service,” said Rep. Messmer. “I thank President Trump and Agriculture Secretary Rollins for making it possible for these brave volunteers to continue their important work.”

These funds are distributed to local volunteer fire departments so they can purchase essential equipment, improve training, and increase their capacity to fight fires and save lives.
