Indiana Congressman Mark Messmer Tapped to Serve on House Education and Workforce Committee

Washington, February 20, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Mark Messmer (R-IN) announced that he has been selected to serve on the House Education and Workforce Committee for the 119th Congress. In addition to this role, he will also serve as Vice Chair of the Workforce Protections Subcommittee and join the Early Childhood, Elementary and Secondary Education Subcommittee.

“I am deeply honored Chairman Walberg has entrusted me with this great responsibility to represent my constituents in Indiana, and all Americans, on the House Education and Workforce Committee,” said Rep. Messmer. “For decades, government overreach and one-size-fits-all policies in Washington have stifled our education institutions, making it harder for American students to get access to the tools and learning environment they deserve. I am excited to work with my colleagues on this important committee, to rein in big government and unleash the American Dream for all Hoosier families.”

The House Education and Workforce Committee is Congress’ dedicated committee for oversight on all federal programs and policies related to education and labor issues. This includes education at all levels, from early to postsecondary education, and labor policies related to wages, hours, workers’ compensation, among other critical policies to support the wellbeing of American workers.

As Vice Chair of the Workforce Protections Subcommittee, Congressman Messmer will support Chairman Ryan Mackenzie (R-PA), to implement the pro-worker agenda House Republicans and President Donald Trump intend to deliver.

Rep. Messmer also serves on the House Committee on Agriculture and the House Armed Services Committee.
