Messmer Issues Statement on the Passage of the Continuing Resolution

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Rep. Mark Messmer (R-IN) issued the following statement following the passage of the Full-Year Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act of 2025:

Today’s passage of the Continuing Resolution is a victory for Hoosiers in Indiana’s 8th Congressional District, and for all Americans,” said Rep. Messmer. “This bill provides a robust investment in our national defense, border security needs, air traffic control operations, and supplemental nutrition programs for women, infants, and children. I am proud to have voted in support of this critical legislation.

The Full-Year Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act of 2025 extends and expands investments in critical federal services for all Americans.

Specifically, the legislation:

  • Maintains government operations without increasing the spending of taxpayer dollars;
  • Upholds responsibilities to our nation’s veterans and ensures full funding of their healthcare services and benefits;
  • Strengthens national security investments, including the largest pay raise for junior enlisted servicemembers in over 40 years;
  • Provides critical funding for increased border security;
  • Supports federal wildland firefighters to protect our communities and public lands;
  • Protects Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid recipients from payment disruptions;
  • Increases funding for air traffic control priorities; and
  • Fully funds the SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) and related WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) programs, including a more than $500 million increase, to provide important assistance benefits to the most vulnerable.
