CRANE, IN – Today, Rep. Mark Messmer (R-IN) welcomed Kratos Defense, an American defense manufacturer, and their new Indiana Payload Integration Facility (IPIF) to Indiana’s 8th Congressional District. Kratos will bring the best and latest defense technology that America has to offer, all while bringing good-paying jobs to Southern Indiana. “I am thrilled that Kratos will bring dozens of good-paying jobs to Indiana’s 8th Congressional District with the goal of keeping America safe at home and abroad,” said Rep. Messmer. “This will be an important economic boon for our community here in southwestern Indiana and for our national security.” As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, Rep. Messmer is focused on ensuring America’s military has access to the best technology available. In keeping with House Republicans’ focus on bringing good jobs to American communities, a new facility designed to build quality defense infrastructure is a welcome development. BACKGROUND: Kratos is investing over $50 million in a state-of-the-art 68,000-square-foot office, laboratory, and integration complex to support critical hypersonic launch programs, including the Multi-Service Advanced Capabilities Hypersonic Testbed (MACH-TB). The facility will feature full-scale environmental testing capabilities and create over 100 high-paying jobs, with an average annual salary exceeding $80,000. This groundbreaking represents the first in a series of strategic investments Kratos plans to make in our community. The IPIF will be fully operational by the end of 2026.
